We're bringing cross country back at SPS! This is a great way for student-athletes to challenge themselves by running longer distances. Meets take place on Friday evenings and are held at a number of different Bay Area parks.

Practice dates, times, and location are tentatively Tuesday and Wednesday, from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m., locations TBA. Parents will be responsible for transporting their children to the park where practice is being held. The team will warm up, then head out on the trail for a run. Parents may walk or run along with the team and get some excercise as well!
Each meet consists of four races: two for boys and two for girls by age division:
3rd - 5th grade girls
3rd - 5th grade boys
6th - 8th grade girls
6th - 8th grade boys
K-2 race will be run at the two meets held at Joaquin Miller Park and at other meets if the course allows. This race will be a 1/2 mile or less.
2016 Cross Country Meet Schedule
Cross country practices and meets take place in local Bay Area parks on courses of grass, dirt, and asphalt. Courses are approximately one mile for grades 3 and up. Younger runners in grades K-2 may sign up for cross country if they are comfortable running at a sustained pace for a distance of 1/2 mile (equal to two times around the track).
